Canonical a annoncé la création d'un groupe consultatif des opérateurs réunissant Deutsche Telekom, Everything Everywhere, Korea Telecom, LG UPlus, Portugal Telecom, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, et Telefonica, afin de discuter sur le système d'exploitation Ubuntu Mobile. Sont notamment concernés, les standards HTML5, la compatibilité des applications, ou encore a fragmentation des plateformes. Les premiers smartphones sous Ubuntu arriveront début 2014.
