SocketWrench 6.0 Freeware Edition is a freely available, general purpose control that simplifies Windows Sockets programming. For developers new to Internet software development, SocketWrench greatly reduces the learning curve typically associated with socket programming and TCP/IP in general. SocketWrench is designed to meet the needs of developers writing software for Windows 2000 and later versions, including Windows Vista and Windows 7. The SocketWrench component is a 32-bit ActiveX control (OCX) and can be used in a wide variety of development languages. SocketWrench can be used to create both client and server applications, and supports both synchronous (blocking) and asynchronous (non-blocking) modes of operation. You can build virtually any type of application with SocketWrench using either the TCP or UDP protocols. Also included with the SocketWrench Freeware Edition is a Remote Access Services (RAS) dialer control. This component allows you to easily manage dial-up networking sessions directly from within your application. Instead of depending on the autodial feature, you can take direct control of the session (including determining if a dial-up networking session is already active and monitor the connection status). The SocketWrench Freeware Edition is completely free, and may be used to create freeware, shareware or commercial software without any runtime licensing fees or royalties.
